Our season in Bama opens tomorrow and I have yet to hear a bird gobble. I have been to all my spots to listen including the management area. I don't know what is going on, but it sucks real bad. Anyone else having problems hearing birds right now. Im just really surprised I havent heard one anywhere at all.
maybe Daylight Savings threw in the wrench... :begging:
Don't worry...it will come together
it's early yet. it will get better in the next week or two
I took the stepson Saturday and Sunday morning. I heard a couple of birds Saturday (long way off) and nothing Sunday. I called in 12 hens Sunday (one had about an 8" beard) but no longbeards. My cousin was about a mile away and heard two Sunday. He said they gobbled about 6 or 8 times each on the limb but shut up on the ground.
I didn't hear a bird in North La until the past week and those mostly only gobbled on the limb. They started a little late this year.
It should crank up soon.
read an article over the weekend here in bham about how it was going to be a late season this year considering the extreme cold from the winter.
dont feel bad i havent heard anything yet either... and i know they're there
could be good to get the weekend warriors out of the way and it crank up good the first week in april
He's gobbled, you just weren't there when he did. Don't worry he ain't far. He don't have to gobble for you to kill him. Good luck and stay after'em.
The last 2 years in Michigans Turkey capital I only heard 1 bird gobble in 2 years , hopefully this year will be better
it's not just you

What he said, very true.
7 or 8 years ago, I was in the same boat. I didn't hear a bird while I was out listening. I went the day before season and nothing. I was disgusted to say the least. Opening morning was one of those clear, cool mornings, that you know birds should be gobbling there heads off. As the sun started to come over the horizon, I heard a bird way off in the distance. He gobbled a few times, then another one started gobbling a little closer. By the time it was all said and done, there were 8 birds gobbling in different directions. I didn't kill a bird that morning, but I remember it like it was yesterday. The moral of the story is, just because you don't hear them when you've been out scouting and listening, doesn't mean they won't be lighting it up tomorrow.

that's because we don't have any turkeys.
