Just bought a new 24" carlsons replacement barrel for my 870 . Are they any good ? Anyone hunting with one . I have 2 barrels , the one mentioned above and a remington factory 26" barrel . Would the factory barrel be of better quality ? Thanks .
My question is... Why would you have to buy another barrel? The factory barrel is quality enuff for anything you would do in the turkey woods or any where else for that matter.
Those 870's with the 26" barrel and the right choke/shell combo are killer's!
My buddy has one with the JellyHead .660 and shoot's an awesome pattern. I think I would have bought a choke tube and a few boxes of shell's and tried the 26" barrel, that 2" of barrel on the carlson's isn't gonna change the game that much.
Just sayin.
Well I bought the barrel to go on a wingmaster that had a fixed 30 full . I figured if I was stuck with a 2.75 " gun I might as well have one that I could buy chokes for and at least extend my range a little . But after I bought that barrel I got a killer deal on an 870 mag . So now I have 2 870s and 2 barrels . Got some patterning to do . I got 4 chokes ... Ssx .643 , rem factory super full .665 extra full .689 and a tight wad .660 lots of shooting .
