I strongly believe there is so much unknown about ticks and their diseases they carry. I have my son in just about every type of environment hunitng and do take precautions in order to avoid these things. Wouldn't you know it he contracts Lymes disease after rolling around in the back yard of green grass in the middle of Summer last year. Typical bulls eye bite mark and runs a slight fever. His Doctor says their is so much unknown about the diseases Ticks carry and even mentioned how for years they always diagnosed people with "The Summer Time Flu" because of low fevers and cold like symptons that now mimmick Lymes. He studied Lymes because of the dramatic increase of Lymes disease in the area I live and informed us how there is so much unknonwn with not only Lymes but the other diseases these Ticks carry.

Cold has little if any effect on tick populations.

I think pretty much put here on earth has a reason for being.
For the life of me I can't figure out how ticks fit in that theory tho.

Not saying it will kill them. One of my former instructors had told me last year that the reason why we had so many ticks here in NY last year was due to the fact that our last couple winters have not been that cold. He was referring to the fact that when it gets extremely cold, they go into a hibernation mode causing them to be less active & giving them less time to produce offspring vs. staying active and breeding year long. I should have explained myself better.....

Nasty critters to say the least. PERMETHRIN works the best around here.
