I called in my first turkey of the year today. I went outside to work on my Harrison hooter because I will be in MS on Thursday. About the 4th hoot a turkey gobbled, no it wasn't buddy. I hooted again and he answered again. So I went to the back yard and hooted and he hammered back. Then I spot him in the neighbors field. I hooted several more time and he gobbled back every time. Then I see him go into strut and could see he was a Jake. I didn't have a call with me so I just started yelping with my voice. He answered everything I did. He came to my fence and flew up on it and flew into my pasture. He was strutting and gobbling like crazy. I gobbled at him one time and we went back and forth for about 6 gobbles in a row. I walked to the fence and hid behind a big oak and hen yelped to him. He goobled and came around the fence right to me. He was 15 yards from me strutting and gobbling. He stayed for 2 hours and then flew up into a big oak tree on the creek behind my house. During this time I could hear 2 other turkeys gobbling in the distance. Buddy on the other hand was in a fight with Skeets the whole time. I guess he is feeling a little better after gettin his butt whooped the other day. He was given ol Skeets a good flogging. We'll se how he looks tomorrow.

I have one of James custom wood hooters in gun stock. It's real pretty and hoots up a storm or should I say gobbler.
