Title: shurshot stock
Post by: bmhern on March 06, 2014, 07:11:44 PM
I just shot my new 870 mag today, the shurshot stock really hammered my cheekbone.I read in another post about a cheek pad to help take some of the sting out of it. Does anyone know where I can find one? Thanks.

Fill the cavity with clear silicone. It's cheap & will take a lot of sting out. Just take the pad off & put a few tubes in. A clear vinyl hose on the end of the caulk tube to ensure you fill it all the way up.

Try this link: http://www.godagrip.com/cheek-pads.html. I just order a cheek pad from them.

What about using spray foam?

Filling the stock with silicone sounds like a good idea. I'm gonna have to do something my old bones just can't take that
beating anymore. Thanks.

You can also add lead buckshot to the silicone to add more weight along with the cheek pad. I put buckshot in the stock of my son's Mossy Bantam during duck season. It really takes the punishment out of shooting that little light weight 20ga with heavy loads. He is very recoil sensitive and had developed a huge flinch. That extra weight cured his flinch. Made 3" duck loads feel like heavy dove loads.
