Title: Super Nova and Mag Blends
Post by: davisd9 on February 28, 2014, 11:24:30 AM
Got a buddy that shoots a Super Nova and wants to shoot 3.5" mag blends. From my research the IC 665 is a good choke in this gun. He is not looking for 250+ numbers just a good hunting pattern that he can feel confident with at 40 yards. He currently has a jellyhead for the gun and is going to shoot it to see what it does but has not had much luck with it and other loads. What do you guys suggest? Should the IC give him what he is looking for? I believe it is a 26" barrel but will confirm that with him. Thanks!

I shot an IC in my old Supernova for a while and it did really good....but it did better with a SumToy.

Thanks for the info and I have seen some talk on the SumToy. I will let him know.

Any more information or suggestions are greatly appreciated!

I have a buddy with a supernova and an IC .665.  Hevi 6's shot really well.  I won't say numbers because I don't remember for sure, but it was well north of 200 in the 10.  Very nice even pattern out through the 20" circle too.  A great hunting pattern IMO.

I got a buddy with a Super Nova. He's got a Sumtoy .650 in it, and from the patterns I've seen from it, it would be hard to beat that combo. I have always had luck with IC chokes from multiple guns and would have no doubt that that choke would do what he wanted it to also. I do believe if I had to pick and spend my money on one, that I would order the Sumtoy and never look back.
