Title: Who is running a 870SM w/28" barrel?
Post by: C J Stahly on February 24, 2014, 10:01:34 PM
What kind of shell/choke combo are you using and what are the results?

About to snag a SM for cheap and just wondering where I should start.  I get GREAT numbers with my 3" 870 but for some unknown reason (mainly because its cheap) I am going to get a 3.5"SM

I use a jellyhead .665 with Winchester 3.5-2-5's in my 28 inch and 23 inch barreled super mags. 100-120 pellet count in the ten. Nothing special but just a nice even pattern. Those 5's sure pack a punch too.

I only use a 23" barrel but with a Indian Creek and H13 3.5" 2.25oz #7s I average over 300 pellets in a 10" circle at 40 yards.

Indian Creek does make a very good choke.  300 shot in a 10" would make a mean combo no ands, ifs or buts about it.
