I have a question, If we didn't have all these turkey dedicated shot shells, what regular shot shells would you be using?
My 9 year old shot his spring bird last year with 2.75, 1 1/8, 7.5's. Bird never twitched. 17 yards was the trick.
my trap load of 1 1/8 7 1/2 over a hot load of wsf powder
2 3/4 Remington nitro express long range #4
Win XX 3-1 7/8-6's in the 25 round box. I don't know if they make them anymore, but they weren't much different than their turkey labeled loads.
Either the Winchester Super X high brass game loads, or the Remington Express Long range. Either in the 5's or 6's.
PRAIRIE STORM # 6'S.....PHEASANT LOADS.
I would utilize some old 2 3/4", 1 1/2oz #5 lead duck loads that I reloaded on my MEC about 15 years ago. Took my first turkey with them at 29 yards from a Remington 1100, then like most everyone else went out and got a dedicated 835. Is it over kill, YES! Boys and Their Toys!!
I would search for a large payload of shot; either #5, #6, or maybe even #7.5 Lead, and then try to choke it right.

I have a box of these xx 3/ 1 7/8/ 6's and a box of xx 1 5/8 6's. They will both get it done.
Win XX in 5's or 6's...
mudhen
Winchester Super X 12 ga. 2 3/4" 1 1/4 oz. #6. This is the same load I hunt pheasants with. It works!
that's easy,Winchester xx High Brass 2-3/4" 1-1/2oz #5's or 4's through a full choke
Glock lol
Winchester AA 7.5s out of my 20 gauge Mossy 500. Thing will straight smoke with those shells out of the factory full for some reason.
PRAIRIE STORM # 6'S.....PHEASANT LOADS. Then now and as long as they make them.

^^This^^
I shot my 870 youth gun yesterday. With the AA 1 oz. load of 7.5's (load AAH207) and a trulock #7 choke.
I was absolutely amazed ! Wouldn't hesitate to pop at 30 real dang quick.
I didn't count the holes but I saw the damage it can unleash.

I second that. Those things shoot.
Winchester high brass #6
Federal Heavy Field Loads in #4
Winchester HV #6 or #5s have killed a boatload of turkeys.
Remington 3" nitro express 1 5/8 oz. # 5 or 6. Killed several birds with that load in the early years.
Definitely praire storm #5 or #6
# 4 buck
Gman
Any high brass load, just think of all the money we would save! :z-twocents:
As long as I can remember my grandfather has liked to shoot the remington nitro magnum in 2.75 #6s, but anymore he just uses the regular express long range or whatever he pulls out first and killed quite a few turkeys.
I've killed 2 with remington duplex 2.75 4x6 shells
