Title: Bps 3 1/2 choke input
Post by: Clint Shook on February 17, 2014, 10:51:06 PM
Just got a bps 3 1/2 with 24" barrel. interested in your experience with different chokes and 3 1/2  loads with the bps.     Choke reviews specifically with hevi blend would be great.  Thank

I have a 3" BPS with 26" barrel. Got decent patterns with Jellyhead .660 and I.C. .675 using Hevi 3-2-#6

I have the 3 1/2" BPS with the 24" barrel and i shoot a .675 undertaker with the winchester extended range 6's and get a nice even pattern. I tried some mag blends with the same set up but it didn't pattern as well as the winchesters.

I shoot a 30" BPS with a .665 Indian Creek. With W-W XX 3.5-2-6s it will put 230-240 in the 10" at 40 yards. With W-W XX 3.5-2-5s it will break 190 at 40 yards. Heavy 7s will go 320-330 but I didn't like the actual kills as good as the #5 lead. More shot hits the head but the #5 seems to slam em harder. reflexl

My teenage son graduated to my old BPS 3.5 12 gauge 2 years ago with an HS Strut Undertaker XT HD .675 choke tube.  Between the spring and fall seasons he has taken 8 turkeys with it so far at various ranges with both lead and hevi shot loads.  It is working well for him.
