Patterned today. 55 degs. 870 with JH 665. 3" mag blends shot 140-150 in a 10" at 40 yards. Barrel has been deep cleaned and polished. Should I mess around with dif shells/ chokes or just go hunt...
Sounds about right for the temps. How'd your pattern look?
Better can definitely be had. I do hear that this year's magblends are different and not as good. How old are your shells? Imo 150 + should be expected.

140-150 will kill birds all day!!! It's really just a matter of what YOU want to see (numbers wise). I'd bet money if you dropped down to a .660 choke and shot some Win LB #6's your numbers would go up...but your turkey won't be any more dead. I like to see 180+ for myself but that's what makes ME comfortable.... do I need 180+....NO....I WANT 180+. :icon_thumright:
Yes it can be better IMO. That is a good killing hunting pattern all day, but even for the 3" shell I would still hope to get up in the 180's with the Mag Blends. It all depends on what you want to see out of your set-up.
sounds fine but if its worth it to you to have 30-40 more buy the jelly head 660 with those 3in magblends and I would bet you would have 180-90 :funnyturkey:
I'll give you my honest opinion since you ask. Ditch the magblends and shoot straight 7's or straight 6's in Hevi-13. If your shooting a 3.5" chamber gun, I would shoot the 3.5" loads.
thanks for the replies! :OGturkeyhead:
If this is the new shells you are about on the money. Now the older ones from last few years should be more.
