Title: Baikal mp18 question
Post by: Onpoint on February 17, 2014, 02:56:11 PM
I bought a 12 gauge mp18 the other day and I will be sending it to William tomorrow.  I'm having him do some work to it and going to put a 660 rem choke in it. It's a 28" barrel, and I can't decide if I want to cut the barrel down to 25 or 26 or leave it at 28. What do yall think I should do?

I think it depends on what you're planning on using the gun for.  It you're gonna be shooting ducks also, I'd leave it alone.  But if this is purely a turkey gun, take some of that length out and shorten it a bit.  Just my two cents.

It's gonna be strictly a turkey gun. Right now it's just a tad shorter than my Remington 870 with 25" barrel. If I cut the barrel down to 25 it'd be about the size of my 21" 870. Might do that.
Anybody think I should leave it at 28?

William told me that sometimes when you cut the barrel that the guns shoot awful. Kinda afraid to cut it down cuz it shoots pretty good now. I sent it to him yesterday so hopefully I get it back before season. With the 28" barrel it's 1.5" shorter overall than my 25" 870.
