Title: 12 ga encore
Post by: Rwhaley on February 13, 2014, 05:34:00 PM
I have a new 12 GA encore barrel with Tc extra full choke tube. I am looking to see what load people are shooting out of them with good results. I was reading the info on the barrel and it stated to use only Tc chokes, this sounding funny to me due to the amount of choke tubes on the market. any help would be greatly appreciated.

They use the win.Browning.moss chokes. I have a 20 so I can't help with the load or kind of choke.

x2 on the chokes. I think a lot could depend on several factors.  Based your chokes options, do you plan to try different chokes?  What ammo, HTL or lead?  I shoot a H&R that uses the same chokes.  I'm shooting Win XRHD 3" 6's thru a Truglo Bansner .665 (which is now the Xtreme).  That load also likes the MAD Super Max .675.  I'm not a numbers guy, I like my guns to give me nice even patterns at 30 and 40.  Spend some time looking around this site and read some of the threads and check the pattern board posts.  Lots of good info.  I know I learned a lot from the time others have spent sharing their info.

Good Luck.

I shoot a Jellyhead .665 out of mine, Hevi-13 #7's. Never counted numbers with that, but it is very, very good.

I shoot a .665 Indian creek as well in my 12 with hevi-13 #7s.  Get anywhere from 180-220 in the 10 at 40.

I'd use it for a paper weight in the meat wagon if i was you! Or just sell it to R.Mack. Tell Mac. I'am gonna kill his turkey this year. Right out of his front yard! Come up on sibole and we'll talk turkey.   cluck

got to shoot my gun finally and it shoots good with federals 3" 4's but kicks like a mule. The pattern was great at 50 yards and starting to spread out at 65. Any thing within 50 is dead meat, now to find one to shoot at will be the real trick.

Indian Creek .665 with Hevi-13 2oz 6's topped with a red dot scope.  Nice even pattern out to 35 yards- never shot past that at paper.

My encore 12 gauge barrel shot good with a tightwad choke and the cheaper Winchester 6's in the grey box.

I shoot fed.heavyweights ,five shot with the extra full tc choke shoots great.I did change the stock to the encore pro with the Simms pad, made a big difference in the hard kick.
