Title: Which base mount
Post by: R.W. Mackey on February 06, 2014, 11:53:37 AM

Hey Guys, was thinking about a FF3 for my Mossy 935. I have a Weaver base that will fit it. Will the
Picatenny rail mount offered with the FF3 mount directly to this. Or what would I need to mount it.

Thanks in advance.

I tried my pic mounted ff3 on a weaver rail and it didn't fit, but a small file can take care of that or you can buy an inexpensive pic rail for the mossy

Often Weaver slots aren't deep enough or are spaced in a way you have to compromise on where the sight sits on it.  I really think if you will go ahead and replace it with a Picatinny you will be happier.  It will give better engagement of the crossbar of the sight and will give you more freedom to move the sight forward or back to pick exactly where you want it.

Thanks guys, I don't know a lot about the Picatinny rail system, actually nothing, do you have to get
One specifically for the 935 or they designed generic with lots of holes.

Thanks, again.

Any picatinny rail made for a Mossberg 500, 835, 930, or 935 will fit.  Mossberg receiver drilling is standardized.  Several companies sell them including Mossberg.  Mossberg has them camo colored to match your gun if that is of interest.  Their website is a little difficult to find things on, go here and then do a search on the word picatinny.

EGW (Evolution Gun works) makes one for it also.  Google them and search their scope base page.

If it were me, I would buy a Burris 336 base, and mount the Fast Fire directly to it. It is cleaner, and sits much lower. The 336 base matches the hole patterns in the Mossbergs, so no redrill and tap is needed.
That's what I did with my FFIII, and I have been very pleased.
