Curious what everyone's favorite wood/surface combo is and why. I've been reading up a lot more on call materials and its got me curious what our call makers and seasoned callers like. I've got one custom call and looking to add more to the collection, but I want to get some different combinations. I've got a cherry/glass right now.

For glass, Cherry all the way.
For a slate surface, Cedar, Chestnut, or Walnut, are great sounding.
Walnut or Canary for all surfaces works really well. :icon_thumright:
This should an interesting thread.
My favorite is 3in copper over slate or glass in a ash wood pot ,,and why ash is not to hard or soft can get some nice deeper sounds
I use the David Holloran Twisted sister and the crystal mistress. Both are crystal, the twisted sister is poplar and yellow heart and sound very good. The Crystal Mistress is cedar and maple and also sound very good. Hope this helps.
Pecan , aluminum over slate, persimmon glass over slate
I have a SS laminated wood slate over glass that is ALWAYS with me!!! Canary wood with anodized aluminum is another favorite of mine too.
