Check with local wal mart and see if the have any federal turkey thugs. They were the shell to best last year when it comes to lead loads.
it tried walmart this mornin they dont have the turkry stuff out yet oh and guys ive been using the 28'' barrel what barrel do yall see a good pattern out of i have the 22'' as well
Shoot the Federals with the Flite Control Wad through a non ported choke. Also look at the Long Beards from Wincherster.

I have an idea, and I am not sure this will help, but I think I know what is wrong.
Are you shooting at a 36'' X 36'' piece of paper? It looks to me like you may not be finding the densest part of your pattern. Very few shotguns shoot POA to POI, and they need some kind of sights to bring them together. Just because you are aiming at the dot, unless your gun is dialed in, doesn't mean that is where your core is.
Is this your 20" barrel pattern? I know from experience, those guns have wicked muzzle whip with that short barrel and a 3.5" shell.
So my advice is (if you haven't already) is to get a big sheet of paper, put a dot on it, aim for the dot, then draw a 10" circle around the densest part of the pattern. If the densest part isn't where your POA is, then you will need adjustable sights.
As far as shells go, try the longbeards or Hevi-13's in the 3" shell.
Good luck, and keep us posted!
I have same gun and i would do what chatterbox said. and as for the barrels i get better patterns with the 22 inch barrel
thanks guys ive been tryin the 28'' ill deffinetly try the 22'' barrel ill try the 36'' paper i will keep yall posted its raining kinda hard here right now so it may be a few days till i can shoot again and again thanks for all the help guys
Good idea, switch the barrel. That is just a low number from those chokes.
Switching loads around just spending more money might help, but with those numbers already something else is wrong. Barrel is what is left to try.
After that fine tune with loads.
Chatter had good idea and would like to add.
Is that a ten inch diameter circle?????????? ten inches a cross. BOTH WAYS.
yeah ive been doin 10x10 circle anybody else have this much trouble patterin your 535
you need try that other barrel. with 2 chokes, both cant be bad, two loads both cant be bad.
What does that barrel look like inside?
both barrels are spotless and have been deep cleaned
Good and dried out before you shot. No oily residue in the barrel?
yes we ran patches till they were dry and spotless
My 535 loves hevi magnum blends. I shoot the 3" to help with recoil. I shoot a. 660 Primos tightwad. About 220 pellets in a 10" circle. It patterns tight, I also find a red dot helpful.
I wouldn't waste anymore time on patterning lead. I tried it all and wasn't happy, a few were decent out of the 28" barrel the 22" barrel was afwul with lead. Hevi shot can be ordered online and has a $10 rebate a box now . You will be glad you switched to hevi

thanks im goin to try and order a box or two monday and as for the recoil i know what ya mean those 3.5s pack a pretty hard punch what choke are you running
Has anyone seen numbers that low before.?
Well get you some junk shells (walmart 8's). Set up a target at say 50 ft. Check the POA/POI with choke you want to shoot. Then move to 40 yards. I think you may not be seeing the pattern.
I've shot both the stock. 670 choke and the Primos tightwad in. 660. The Primos puts up higher numbers in the ten " circle, but the stock xxturkey will also shoot a good pattern with hevi-shot and both will hold a pattern well past normal turkey Hunting yardages.
just a little update i now have a box of the hevi shot 3'' magnum blends and a few new targets to shoot ill let yall know when i pattern the new loads
hope all goes well I love my 535, its lightweight easy to carry and kicks like a mule hahaha but my 240lbs can take it :z-guntootsmiley:
yeah they kick like a mule im goin to try the .670 factory and my .660 jellyhead

They do. I hated my 535. Sold it, and bought an 835, and never looked back.

I wouldnt waste shells with the factory, the jelly head and 3 in magblends should tickle you just fine :OGturkeyhead:
Your problem is likely being caused by shooting flight control wads thru a choke with ports. The flight control wad is meant to be shot thru a non ported or internal choke. The intent was to get good patterns with standard fixed or internal chokes. The problem is the ports grab and tear the wings on the flight control wad causing it to fly erratic and disrupt the shot column. Use your ported choke with standard wad shells or flight control shells with your internal flush chokes and your results should improve either way.
i have a non ported choke to try when the temps warm up some ive always heard its hard to pattern while its cold out and again thanks for all the help guys
You mention 28" barrel. I shot my 535 20 in barrel and a 500 with 28 in and SAME Jellyhead choke and shot load a few min apart. Both had been deep cleaned before, and each shot was first out of the gun since cleaning. I was STUNNED at the difference. The 28" threw a tighter pattern by far at 40 yds. Try it yourself!
im goin to try the 22'' and the 28'' barrel with the shells ive got there winchester longbeards and winchester hvs both are the hvs are 3.5 #5 and the longbeards are 3'' #5s
