Title: New 870 super mag
Post by: slave601 on January 23, 2014, 05:12:40 PM
Just bought a new 26" super mag with the bottomland camo. Kinda torn between shooting 7s or mag blends. I have a jelly head 660 for it. Would that be too tight for the mag blends?

I shoot Hevi 7s from my Super Mag 23' barrel and jellyhead. It is deadly at 40 yards. I have not tried the Blend. The only way to tell is to try some of each.

It should not bee too tight at all. Many people shoot those shells in chokes much tighter but it really all depends on the internal geometry of the choke tube.

Good luck with your new gun and choke.

Thanks,
Clark

Mag blends are awesome out of my Rhino .660 with a 20" supermag. I've never tried #7.

I shoot a 23" supermag with a 660 Jellyhead and 3.5 magblends.   It shoots good.  I forget my 10"  numbers but they were respectable for a hunting gun.

I wish I could find all my old pattern pictures when I had that gun.  I used the JH .660 and it was deadly.  If I remember correctly the MagBlends were 230 in 10".  Below are the Hevi straight 7's.  Both were fantastic patterns.  I would polish the barrel and hit the woods with that JH .660.

I have yet to see a bad pattern out of a Remington 870 Super Mag and Jellyhead .660 choke. It's just one of those combinations that work.
