Title: Help me find my choke
Post by: JellyHead Key on January 23, 2014, 01:50:49 PM
I'm down to three options for my Mossberg 835. I've only used a Jelly Head in the past but I kind of want to switch it up. Any opinions on which one to get?

Original Jelly Head
Indian Creek
Star Dot

What load do you plan on shooting?

I'm not sold on a specific type of load yet. I figured i would test out a few different loads after i bought the choke. Do you suggest a specific type of load/choke combo?

I would try the indian creek because you might have an easier time finding one.  Other than a Jellyhead a pure gold is a good one too.

If you were buying one.. Which one would you get? I can easily get a Jelly Head online from a few sites that I know of.  I've heard a lot of great things about Indian Creek chokes as well. Just not sure what kind of loads to shoot with IC

Jellyhead for me.  Pure gold was #2 in my 835.

3.5 magblends did better the 3.5 h13 #6.  3.5 #5 winchester high velocity did decent for lead.  That's all I tried.  The magblends gave me 22x? In the 10@40.

I tried several chokes and loads in my Browning Silver and the Jellyhead 670 /3.5 Magblend combo was the best for me.

I have a Jellyhead I'll send you cuz it's just sitting in my safe. 690 constriction for 835 and 935. It'll save you a little money anyway.
