Would a jet 10 15 vs be big enough to make some pot calls on ? Trying to make calls is my kid idea but if it keeps her into hunt I'll try this any help would be appreciated
Definitely! All the lathe you would ever need for turkey calls. :icon_thumright:
Yep that will work and then some. The variable speed will come in real handy as you will see especially if you start working with CA for a finish on your calls because you will need to slow the speed down pretty slow for the application so it doesn't sling off. Dang its good to hear that there are still some kids interested in hunting, and a young women to boot. Like you said if that's what it takes, go for it, But be forewarned it's addictive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you have never run a lathe before I would suggest for ease of use the Easywood turning tools, a square and a round to start. They are a little pricy but well worth the $$$, in my opinion. Good luck!!!!
purchase some books on wood turning basic, centerwork, and facework.......this will direct you toward proper tool sharpening and use.......in the long run will make your turning life much easier.......
