Title: A few new ones...
Post by: dreis3 on January 12, 2014, 05:17:15 PM
Here's a few calls I finished up in the last couple of weeks... Reworked the insides of my slates and I'm really pleased with the results.  Added a soundfile of the spalted sycamore call and would love some feedback... thanks for the look

Derick,

They look solid the workmanship is clearly there and I don't know what they sounded like before you reworked them, but it sounds to my ears that you might be leaning on the striker just a tad heavy for a slate call.  I could be totally wrong and forgive me if I am, but I like the roll-over, it sounds strong, but it has a little squeak to it at times and I was juist wondering if you eased off a bit on the striker pressure how that would work.  For a slate, and they usually do, it has a great cluck and purr!!  :icon_thumright: On a scale of 1-10, I would give the sound a 7.0.  It sounds good, but I know you can make them sound better!  If ya have time post a sound file of a couple other wood combos, they could be quite different.
