anyone shoot turkey loads off a lead sled and a comfortech stock? was looking more in the shooting 3.5" loads. I have heard some say it can shatter the stock if you shoot it off a lead sled and REALLY don't want that to happen! 3.5" magblends pack a punch though so i could see it happening just wondered if anyone else does it.

Personally, I would not do it. Those chevrons can be dislodged. It was just not made to be shot against an immovable object.

I've done it with my SBE 2 and she's come through fine. HOWEVER, I don't put much weight on the sled. Instead of 25 or even 50 lbs of lead shot I simply put about 10 lbs of weights from an old workout machine. This makes recoil off the bench somewhat more tolerable but its not so heavy that it becomes and immovable object. I don't think I could handle a long patterning session of 3.5 turkey loads without it to be honest. I'd be sore and flinching after 4 or 5 rounds
It's not just the Comfortech stocks, you can find stories of guys breaking just about any kind of stock there is on a Lead Sled. If you put on so much weight that the rest doesn't move at all there's a good chance you may run into a problem. Shoot with no weight or maybe up to 20lbs or so and you will probably be fine. The goal should just be to take the edge off, but some people want to make a 7mm Rem Mag feel like a .22 and that energy is going to go somewhere.
I shoot my SBE II in a led sled with no weight and never had a problem. With no weight it's more like a good solid rest it still move's, and you better have your shoulder in it and be hanging onto it or you'll wear it.
I've shot both my stoegers off it for years with no issue and i just put a 10lb bag in the sled, just wasn't sure how the comfortech stock would do in one...I REALLY don't want to shatter one as they are crazy expensive to replace but the steady grip stock doesn't really fit in the sled so Im sorta at a decision point.
I have shot my vinci with the comfortec stock from a generic lead sled type of rest.Never had too much weight on the rest and the rest would move a couple inches back with the recoil.Still makes me uneasy to shoot it like that though!Usually use sandbags anymore with it and a Past shoulder pad if I'm doing a lot of shooting. I agree with the above posts that if you don't put much weight on it you probably would be o.k.Maybe call or email benelli c.s. and see what their thoughts on it are.Looking forward to seeing your patterning results!....ward
