Hello, I was wondering what surfaces work well on butternut? Thanks!

My opinion would be slate over glass or aluminum over slate.

I would agree, butternut being soft and spongy will absorb vibration so I think you would be best to start with something that creates more from the start.

Now if you want to try coating the inside in CA to create a hard shell I think it may open the door to other surfaces.  It doesn't have to look pretty.
