insight on choke and shot size for mossburg 500 12 gauge
depends on budget. I cant help with chokes for that gun but as far as shells go the 3" hevi-shot #6s are hard to beat but are pricey. Winchester Double Xs (#5s or 6s) are a pretty good load thats a little more budget friendly
660 to 665. Lead Winchester Long Beard 2nd Fed FCW
Now if you want to spend the money the HV13 is top.
I have a Kicks GT, .655 I believe, in my 500 that has a 28" barrel, it shoots well with the Double X 3" 5's. I am waiting on others that have ported chokes to post some pics before I try the new Longbeard load from Win.
primos jelly head 660 with 3in magblends!!!! polish the barrel and you will have a turkey thumper :fud:
In my experience it all depends upon the design or internal geometry. It's what's going on inside that choke that makes the difference.
That's why a .660-.665 in one brand may work very well while another exit diameter may work well in another brand.
I shoot a number of different brands of chokes and evaluate them in many different guns. I do the same with shotshells.
It helps to "deep clean" your barrel regardless of what choke of shell you use.
