Title: Ice Storm 2013
Post by: njdevilsb on December 22, 2013, 11:50:44 AM
We've been without power since 5am here in Upstate NY.  We had 3 big trees come down, luckily only in the yard with minimal damage to a chain link fence.  There's 30,000 without power in our Tri-County area.  We've got a generator that we borrowed from my grandpa.  The biggest worry was my 2 pet lizards being without their lamps and under tank heaters.  We're kind of waiting it out for a bit before we hook more stuff up.

Aren't lizards cold blooded reptiles? They should adapt, if not take them and cover them with blankets and place a flashlight under with them so they would think they are being heated by the light. sorry about your situation, we have had ice too, and it is a pain to keep things going in a sensible direction when you are stuck in the dark.

They are and they would probably be OK but the one needs to be kept at roughly 110 degrees so I didn't want to push it too far.  It's pretty much a disaster and we are getting freezing rain again right now.  One report we heard said they hope to have everyone back up by Christmas.  Whether it takes them that long to get to us or not, time will tell.

Our power was out this morning here in Orleans County, NY too. Wife and I got up at 4am and power was out. Came back on at 10:30am thank God.
