Title: 16 gauge help
Post by: Preacher on November 13, 2013, 06:56:37 AM
I ran across an old 870 wingmaster 16ga.   its a tight gun with a lot of life left in it.   I hadve had several offers on it ,  but I love the way it feels.   However, there is a problem,   it has a improved cylender fixed choke,   and I have had no luck finding another barrel .   I was wondering if anybody can help me find someone to put screw-in chokes in it.  I know the choke tubes aren't easy to find either.   But I sure would love to take the old gun squirrel hunting with my dog,  and an IC choke jut wont reach the top of a big ole redoak.    thanks in advance for your help.

William at Sumtoy made me a 16ga choke for my 870.  It is a great choke.  I killed 6 birds this spring with it.

You may be able to find an original 16 gauge barrel for that gun. I'd recommend that you call John Mann at Mann & Son (Since 1946) at 618.357.2911. They will be covered up right now, Friday begins deer season and other seasons are in full swing but you can ask for John or Dustin and see if they have a barrel for your gun.

That improved cylinder barrel would be one that a lot of people would like to have. You may want to think a bit before having it altered.

Thanks,
