Title: Found a nice old school 11-87 MO Green leaf.
Post by: Ridge Rooster on October 14, 2013, 06:49:27 AM
Man I am pumped! Was in my local sporting goods store the other day, looking around the used gun rack, and a camo shotgun caught my eye! It was a MO Green Leaf old school 11-87 21" barreled Remington. I have had one just like it since they came out and still hunt with it from time to time. Killed two with old faithful this past spring. I have carried mine for miles and miles and killed many an old long beard with it. Camo is just about wore off ad it kind of looks like hell, but I cant bring myself to change a thing. Well the gun I ran across was in excellent shape, camo has maybe a scratch or two, but looks as if it has spent the majority of its time in a closet somewhere for the last 20 years! Even had some styrefoam reminants of the packing foam. Gun was realkly dry like it had never seen any oil. Called the old lady and told her she just put my Christmas present from her on layaway!

Just had to let yall know cause I am pretty excited and new yall would understand.

Yes they are getting hard to find. This is the first one I have seen in years, exspecially in this good a shape. If I ever run into a Tree Bark edition, or a Bottom Land edition, I would jump on them also (Old lady permitting). I have really enjoyed packing my old one around for the past 20 years or so and have a lot of good memories made with her. I brought her out of retirement last season, and shot two of the best spurred turkeys I have ever killed! Maybe will start packing her more often as she has been pretty good to me over the years.

I bought one around '94. Mine was black synthetic and I had Jim Crumley dip it in realtree advantage in '98. That gun is a well built turkey killing machine. In recent years, I have switched over to the 20 gauge crowd. I still carry my 12 once in a while and it brings back great memories.
Good luck and enjoy your find.

You're a lucky man.  I've been looking for one for some time.  I did buy an Remington 870 Greenleaf in immaculate condition a couple of months ago from a lady whose deceased husband had it in his gun safe.  It appears to have never been fired.  I would gladly trade it for an 1187 Greenleaf in similar coindition or sell it outright.

Nope.  Sold it a couple of weeks ago after I found the Greenleaf 1187 I've been looking for.
