I bought some calls from brookside to mess with, and I read somewhere that I will need to sand down the calls down. Is this true? and if so how much?
Thanks for the help
It's hard to tell without seeing them and knowing what sound your looking for or what surfaces your using?
Looking for a clean high front end with high raspy tail end. I read calls usually need to be around 1/8th of an inch thick and these are 1/4 inch thick. Using glass surface. Can I put the sound board and surface in and call on it? Or will I need to glue it? If I glue it can I try it before the glue sets and if I dont like it remove it?
Sorry for all the questions!
I just sanded mine to make them pretty. They sounded good enough to kill birds and call them in. My go-to now is a padauk ceramic over glass from their parts.

One of m professors has a shop with 4 or 5 lathes in it and she said she would show me how to use them. I figured I would go out to her shop this weekend and mess around on them and get a feel for everything. Any advice before hand would be great!
