Title: A Monarch Thunders
Post by: culpeper on September 08, 2013, 04:27:52 PM
Yep...still enjoying that shop time.  This a Walnut over Yellow Poplar with Redheart spacers & inlays and Cebil (Patagonia Rosewood), endblocks.  This is that same Walnut used for the last call (Chestnut)...the sound is as good as I could want.  The right rail holds a knarly Old Hen with great range with a punchy roll-over and a full raspy base, the left side I tuned as a gobbler and jake to give the hunter some freedom and diversity.  Here again the customer really wanted the tail feather and gave me artistic freedom on the other rail.  I have been wanting to get away from the fences and barn scenes for a change and get into the woods a bit.  Though the gobbler may seem the same to you all, he looked better than normal to me, so I felt he should stand alone, looking and calling for love out to the fields in the back ground.  Frankly, I don't know which I like better the gobbler or that big ole tree in front of him.  Thanks for looking guys.

Thanks to all the folks for your kind words.

Mike, you are very welcome, it was my pleaseure to build this call for you.  I know you may have been expecting somethjing a little simplier, but it just wasn't in me...this is the right call for you.  Don't be afraid to use that gobbler rail it'll serve you well when he won't break.  Don't hold me liable when those gobblers run ya down next spring. :TooFunny: :TooFunny:
