This the first year I've been involved in any contest so it's all new to me. I'm in 3 different ones this season.
Is this one always set up this way?
With a 10 bird rule with a platoon on each team and no challenge to push a team to accumulate combined limits theres not much of a realistic chance to come up with 10 bird stack that can compete with average weights of a core based mid western team
This should be a slam dunk if you only have to come up with 10 birds for some
We can kill as many birds as anyone else but bird for bird the average weight just doesn't match up from east to west at least from the south east
I'm new here and not trying to make anyone mad but I think I'm just staing the obvious
I'm in and committed but I am surprised at the size of the teams and the bird count allowed to be
entered.
On another contest we have 5 man teams and a 12 bird count
We're gonna have kill a few multibeards for sure
Am I off base here? Again not trying to ruffle feathers here and won't mention it again ...just kind of curious
Bobby
Teams with multibeard birds will win this contest. Unfortunately, I've never heard of a multibeard bird in the areas I hunt.

Your not off base at all. You just missed the months of rule changes, discussions, arguments , etc. The rules may be changing as you read this.

I'm with you Mr Bobby, it doesn't make a lot of sense but oh well, we'll have fun with it either way. It just means we get to be particular on what birds get counted towards the score and which ones don't.
Bo,
I get what you are saying. The reason for so many on the team this year is because so many drop out. Once the season starts alot disappear. Last year we didn't turn in 10 turkeys and still finished mid pack. almost half of the team dissappeared, even our capt.
Multi-beards score well. Thats how I won last year.
As far as the regional weight goes, its usually not a big deal. The way that gobble-matic score works is.
spurs x 10
beard(s) x 2
weight= point per pound
