Title: I was freaking out about no poults,...until....
Post by: busta biggun on August 03, 2013, 02:33:03 AM
So I was VERY worried about the fact that I haven't seen a single poult around the Kansas City area. We had a very cool, wet spring and I was worried that our poult mortality was sky high. I talked to a friend yesterday who said he has regularly seen two hens with close to 16 poults hanging around his bird feeder. Now I realize that these birds may have been the recipient of extra food, but if these poults survived, there is a great chance there are many other broods with similar success. There is no science to determining what the hatch was like, but I feel a whole lot better than I did.

Don't get bummed out if you don't see a ton of baby turkeys. They seem to be pretty tough and apparently good at hiding.
