Title: nitro
Post by: slave601 on July 06, 2013, 08:40:44 PM
looking to buy a new 870 supermag with a 26" barrel this year. I thinking about sending it to nitro ray and letting him set up a choke/shell combo for it. has anyone ever done this. I have heard the new 870s are picky on what chokes they like and dislike.so I figured he could match it up with a good load.

Nitro has done the homework on what choke/ shell shoot best out of each gun. The nitro website has been very effective for me in the past when I was shooting nitro. Rays recommendations on which choke and shell were right on the money. I have a new 870SM that required some fairly aggressive polishing and now turns my best Pb patterns to date 170's/ ventilator .655. Shoots 270's with 3" Hevi 7's/ ventilator. Shot good patterns with JH .665 and hevi13. Avoided the 3.5" shells and never shot nitro out of the gun. Had shoulder surgey and avoided the heavy recoil. Good luck.

Like longshanks said, I have had very good results using what Nitro recommends on their website. I would try that first, in my opinion, you will probably be very satisfied with the results.

The website has always been good for me you need to polish up the barrel before you ever even start. I have had good results with indian creek, rhino, and jelly head.
