Title: Turkey Breast Mount
Post by: opster246 on July 02, 2013, 07:59:09 PM
My sons first turkey and my first attempt at a do it yourself breast mount.  Head was freeze dried and painted by Noonkester Freeze dry.  Really pleased with the head - they have great personal customer service - http://www.noonkesterfreezedryturkeyheads.com/ .

It will be a great reminder of a special day for the two of us!

That looks fantastic! Did you do the breast feathers yourself?

Yes, i did the breast feathers myself. That fat on the breast is something else! The breast form was about twice as long, but the bird had been strutting so much, he wore a good bit of the feathers off and had a scab on his breast. I couldn't get the feathers to come together for the full breast mount, so I had to trim the form down.  I capped it underneath with a piece of oak and drilled 7 holes in the cap piece so he can display the next 6 beards and spurs off of this mount. Hardest part of the whole thing was trimming all the fat off the breast skin but I was pleased with the end result. Hope I got it clean enough and that it lasts a long time for him.
