I had posted the results earlier with the .555 IC and Fed HW 7's. A lot of people warned me of this so I caller Fed and IC. They both told me there were no danger and to shoot away.
:icon_thumright:
It is not a danger issue as much as a counterproductive issue. The Federal folk are proud of their wad that is supposed to make a modified or full choke become a super dense pattern shooter.
The Indian Creek choke with wad strippers and or porting is designed to strip the wad away from the shot as it is leaving the choke. Thus the paradox when using this choke.
That being said, there are many reports of this shell in SSX , IC, Kick's, and other chokes that have had good to excellent reports of patterns using the Federal FC shell. That wad is stiffer in the 12 gauge than the 20 and I suspect that there will be less effect in the 20 gauges but have no extensive tests or reports to prove this.
I have shot one HW 7 trough the IC .555 and got 207 in a 10" at 40 yds. One was all we had but there is more on the way so we will see just how consistant they shoot.

Thats what I would like to see if their is consistency shot to shot...
im going to give a fed 7 a ride out of my 555 ic. as soon as it quits raining after reading this post out of my s&w.if i get any kind of decent pattern that is even and consistent it will save me a bunch of money.
Please let me know how it turns out for you.
The IC 555 and Fed HW 7's like each other! Don't care that it ain't supposed to work...it works.
It could go on the premise that is working with the SSX 550.. Ultra tight constriction and wad catchers working to disable the flitecontrol wad..

The wad's not workin in any of the tight chokes anyway even the PG tempest .570!!
The front petals are suppose to open and slow the wad...not happen'in IME with turkey
chokes. Also the IC's are not tearing the hard wad up as expected either just helping
separate the wad from the shot IME!And yes it is consistant in the IC. chokes IME!

Here is a pic. Not the best quality pic but the number is 170 with the IC 555 and Fed 7's. 40 yds from muzzle.

Fellows,so far I've tryed several chokes with these stupid shells.
The IC chokes do put up the highest 10" circle counts, but that is
all I have for a pattern is a 10" circle.That isn't good enough for
me to hunt, and if you want shoot one at 30 yards with the IC.555
and you will see for yourself. The IC.570 for me averages around
120 at 40 yards but still any out of the 10 is weak and I have noticed
a few shot running on the outside of the wad in that choke,It hasn't
hurt the choke yet because the shot has been pushed back through
the wad.The PG tempest.570 IMO is the best hunter,no it doesn't
put up high numbers in the 10 but I can move the 10 around anywere
on the 20 and get 80 to 100 fairly even hits at 40 yards.I do plan to try
a SUMTOY choke as well but for now I'll use the PG for hunting out to
40 with this ammo. This is just MOE so far others may be different. :icon_thumright:

Thank you SCC... I ran across the same thing the other day when my gun posted 173, I looked at the pattern and said um its 35 degrees.. If this holds I am changing out.. This load only has 326 pellets, for the guys wanting 180 pellets in the 10 inch that only leaves 140 pellets to fill in the extra 100 inches in a 15 inch circle and 236 square inches in a 10.. Thats assuming no flyers..
With these shells I want a good even 140-150 that is gonna kill everything dead to 40 and give you a buffer zone in range and allow for a lil wiggle room in your pattern.

I have been giving this a lot of thought as I am setting up a 20 for my son who is 6. I am just not comfortable with only 91 at 40 yds. It has a few holes, which maybe makes me the most uncomfortable and the 20" ring is patchy as well. I have a Hastings .562 coming and hope this is not too tight. I'll shoot it and see. I would like 120s in a 10" with even 20" numbers as well.
