My grandfather was born in 1913.  He wasn't what you would a call a very vocal person, but when he said something you had better listen.  He passed in 2006.  We all had gathered at the hospital late that night and my uncle said it best,  "Boys, right there lays one hell of a man."   There wasn't a dry eye in the place.

I personally know Duff Holbrook who lives in McClellanville, SC.  He was responsible for the trapping and moving of turkeys and deer in SC in the 1950's.  Duff will be 90 this month and still turkey hunts.  He pioneered the trapping of turkeys with the rocket net and is largely responsible for why we have so many turkeys today.  Other states mimicked his techniques because they were so effective.  I actually went by his house today and visited with him for a while.  He has forgotten more about turkeys and turkey hunting than most will ever know.

I would have to say my friends grandad,he was born in 1924 and passed in 2006.I only got to know him for 2 years but he was a cat bird and was always on our tails for something.I recall lots of memories sitting on the porch of the old farm house in the hot summer nights and just talking about his life.He would also go out any time during the day and sit beside his garden, kinda like he was watching it grow.We took him night fishing a few times and always heard his fishing stories while we fished beside him.He serviced in WW 2.

I took his passing a lot harder then my great grandparents.

One other guy was my Grandads brother who also serviced in WW 2,I have memories of going trout fishing with him and my Grandad. He would always catch more trout and I always asked my Grandad why he was better at fishing. He passed about two years ago and I now get called "Ken" every time I go fishing because I catch a lot more then my Grandad haha.

My grandaddy was born in 1926 and passed in 2008. He was like a father to me and I have felt no other pain before in my life, like the pain of losing him. He was in WWII and swept the underwater mines from the Japanese ships. He was at Pearl Harbor, etc and I always liked listening to his stories. He too was one hell of a man. Grandparents hold a special place in our hearts and I'll greatly miss mine to the day I take my last breath.
