Title: New to Turkey Hunting
Post by: strutlife on June 05, 2013, 10:59:58 PM
Been hunting turkeys for a couple of years and was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction to good custom call makers?

Lots of them on this forum. Take a look in the classifieds and you will see the names of more than a few with calls for sale. I have dealt with stone road and spring creek and they are great guys to deal with and very helpful. The calls are great too, I will never buy another production call.

Depends on what type of call you are looking for.....

Find a call that you like the looks of and call the maker.  Have him run it and a few others that he makes.  Find one that you like the sound of.  Buy that one.  Every callmaker will run calls for you.

Sort of leaning towards a slate and possibly a good box call when I get to the point I'm satisfied with my calling abilities.

Russell Beard, Beard Hunter Turkey Calls, had some jam up slates at Nashville this year. He also makes some killer longboxes. Check out his website.
