I really like rubber boots.  I have the Cabela's Duratrax uninsulated and they are very comfortable and supportive.

depends on where you hunt and what all you want to use them for.

I tend to use Lacrosse Grange during turkey season. Actually very light and tall rubber boots and pretty cool to wear during the TN heat. snakes are not an issue in my area so dont really need snake boots.

I use MUCKS for deer hunting and only mucks.  will never own another pair of lace up boots again. Muck Woody max are the best i have ever used in cold weather.

I've used Lacrosse alfaburlys the last few years. Only get about 2 years then the ankles go to crap. I picked up a new pair of Irish Setter rubbers(I think buckmasters or something like that) to try this year. As far as lace up, I'm a Danner guy. I need short toes, and have a semi flat foot.

If you dont feel like breaking the bank, and need waterproof lightweight...the lacrosse grange's are nice.

i am a BIG muck fan, however the only issue i have found with them is they can take a BEATING during turkey season if you are going through a bunch of briars and thick stuff.

I have used them every spring for 5 years and end up replacing them every other year. Going pure rubber this year just to try and get my mucks to last a while longer. They are not very cheap to buy new every few years.

Alpha Burlys for me when Im in the flatwoods, but for the hills I picked up a pair of BPS trekker3 boots this year. Not sure how they will hold up ( not expectin to much they are BPS) but they are very light and comfy.
ONLY 9 MORE DAYS  :you_rock:

I use LaCrosse La Grange unins rubber boots most of the time in La for the dew in the mornings and crossing creeks.  I like to add cushy insoles in them for comfort.

I use snake boots in Texas.  Been running the Redhead lace ups for several years, but they've started to leak a bit, so I bought a pair of full camo Redhead zip up snake boots yesterday.  They are running them on sale for $40 off til 3/28.  Most comfy boots I've ever owned. I couldn't believe it when I put em on in the store last night, the things are as cushy as a pair of nike tennis shoes and they aren't stiff like most snake boots.  Leather snake boots usually feel like cast until broken in, but these feel nice from the get-go.

I have ran Mucks, but they tear when snagged and make my feet sweat bad when it's warm.  Very comfy though.

I wear LaCrosse AlphaBurley's more often than not. I hunt a lot of fields, often plowed and it's nice to have a pair of boots I can just hose off. They also help keep ticks off my ankles. :)

I have always just hunted in my work boots until this year. I got a pair of Muck Wetlands boots in Jan. and boy they are fine. Comfortable! Light!

I just wear silk dress socks under light wool socks and my feet don't sweat. Roll the tops of the boots down when driving or walking a long road back to the truck.

Best $100 I spent on hunting.

Lacrosse Alpha burly all the way unless you got snakes!  I have Danners also that I love but hate cleaning all the mud out from them.  Had the same pair of danners for 12 years still waterproof, I am really hard on boots, usually would go through a pair of Rockies every year until I tried Danner.

I like to wear camo tennis shoes during spring gobbler season. Use to get them from Cablela's  and Basspro, but can't find them anymore.

You mind elaborating on your bad experiences with two very reputable boot manufactures?  Only thing I don't like about them is the price... Some Danner boots are made here in the USA & some are not.... Mine are labeled "Made in China".  I have had them for under 2yrs but no complaints.

For my hunting boots I own UN-insulated Danner Pronghorns (came highly recommended when I posed the same question) Once broken in (day or so of wear for me) they have served me well & even when taking a few quick steps in streams, did a good job keeping my feet from becoming water logged

Work boots I go with Steal Toed Redwings #2223 also made in the USA.  Very soft & comfortable for me at work(HVAC) & last me about a year before I wear the tread off them.  I also apply "Tuff-Toe" to the toe otherwise I wear right through the leather in a matter of months.

I am kind of in the same dillema. I have worn rubber boots just because I need the height to get across creeks and suck. Only problem is my feet sweat super bad in them. I wore out a pair of uninsulated goretex rocky 9" high boots last year. I want the snake boots if for nothing else than the high waterproof protection. Just looking for the best deal right now. Wont own Danner or Deadwings ever again.

sounds kinda crazy but you can actually pick up the shoes at walmart, they are brahma brand(walmarts work boot brand) their slip on tennis shoes but their actually really comfy (my gf got me a pair for fishing shoes)

i have personally worn the same pair of wolverine durashox hunting for the last 2 or 3 years, their really comfy

I am wearing Danner Radicals now I think.  They are just un-insulated camo hiking boots.  When they wear out, I will be wearing a similar pair of boots that are not camo (already own).

When these boots are done I do not know what I am going to do.  Seems like QC for all the big names leaves a lot to be desired.

I had a pair of Mucks that lasted about three days before there was a huge hole in the uppers from a snag.  IMO they are not durable enough for the $$$.

I like using rubber boots because sometimes in the spring I have to cross a small stream or walk where it's kind of swampy

I wear the danner pronghorn's. I'm as flat footed as they come and I also like the superior ankle support they provide!

For those wearing the Lacrosse Alfaburlys, do they have any ankle/foot support? Lateral stability?

Admittedly I've never had a pair of "hunting" all rubber boots but rubber styles I have had in the past reminded me more of "galosh's" or rain boots mom used to make me wear, no support at all.

Opinions?

Just bought my first pair of fang boots. Got the Rocky pro lite lace ups for myself and my son. I was gonna go with another boot but they were out of them. I've been running around in them for the last four days and they are pretty comfy. Little warm but thats to be expected as hot as it is. I can tell my socks are getting a little damp when I walk in water or wash the mud off with the water hose. Gonna try to find something to put on them to help with waterproofing.

I wear Danner Pronghorns or Cabelas GoreTex/Cordura Boots:  http://www.cabelas.com/product/Home/Turkey-Classic-Hunting-Footwear%7C/pc/105625080/c/106904880/Cabelas-GORE-TEX174-Cordura174-Snake-Boots/721178.uts?destination=%2Fbrowse.cmd%3FcategoryId%3D106904880%26WTz_l%3DUnknown%253Bcat104747580&WTz_l=Unknown%3Bcat104747580%3Bcat106904880

I had a pair of Cabelas that were 2yrs old and had lots of hard miles on them and they started leaking.  I contacted Cabelas and they sent me a new pair for free, told me their clothing/footwear had a lifetime warranty.  New pair is now 4yrs old and no leaks.

Amen brother!  I love my woody Max's.  I actually do you them here in PA for spring turkey though as the mornings in early May can still be a bit chilly.  With the liner in them they aren't too bad for warm weather...

The hunting rubber boots have more arch support and ankle support/compression ankles to take out slop and tighten the fit. The ain't your run of the mill Servus chore boots. They do get warm though, but if you're swampin', they're the way to go. Rocky, LaCrosse, and Irish Setter all make quality rubber boots.

I bought a pair of the Danner Pronghorn snake boots to go to Florida but after reading some of the posts about them leaking I was a little concerned about going through water with them. Well after hunting in Georgia and Florida and going into several swamps and purposely walking in water they held up great. They were very confortable right out of the box and am very glad I bought them. Unfortunately I didn't gey to try them out on any snakes as I didn't see any  ;D .

I love my Muck Boots, But when I need to walk along Distance I would go with Leather boots, so I looking at a different type of Leather Boots for next year.
