What wood is the best for crystal and slate? Right now I have a fiber rod and it sounds good on crystal but not so good on slate.
Fail safe route is hickory.

I carry purpleheart, yellowheart, paduak, and dimondwood to play crystal, ceramic, aluminum, and slate surfaces. I have a lot of other strikers but those are the ones I use the most.
I use either a yellowheart from neal herrman, hooks gobble stix. Or the birch from woodhaven on my crystal calls.

I agree Hickory is a good one. Purpleheart is also one of my favorites.

Thanks everyone, i'm going to try hickory.
Hickory or PurpleHeart will do some talking on both of them surfaces.
I like bubinga, osage, padauk and black locust.
