First off I would like to say hello to everyone, I'm new here. Im wanting to get a M2 for a all purpose gun but mostly for turkeys and yotes. Im just wondering if I get a 20 guage will i be making a mistake?

JMO but if coyote are in the picture I'd definitely stick with a 12ga. The yotes we have here in the Northeast are tough to anchor with a shotgun. It's not uncommon to kill a male over 50lbs. I call but we also run them with hounds as well. Using a Dead Coyote Choke and either #4 buck or Dead Coyote shotshells (either T-shot or in #4 buck) I can kill a coyote out to 45-50yds.

Man, those are some big 'yotes. Only way I would hunt 'yotes with a 20 ga is if I was handloading TSS for it. A 1&5/8 oz of TSS 2s has 88 pellets that outpenetrate lead 4 Buck at 50 yds. A 3" 12 ga 4 Buck load only contains 41 pellets. The TSS would pattern a whole lot better as well.
I haven't heard of anyone getting a 20 gauge M2 and not loving it. I love mine!
Banded spur, I wouldn't be afraid to shoot 5's or 6's in TSS in a 1 1/4oz load at Yotes! I have seen them killed with 9's and 8's.

I wouldn't either. But since Beagler referenced 4 Buck, it takes #2 TSS to exceed the penetration of that load.

You must reload TSS. It is not a factory loaded shell. Save money and get a Remington 11-87, Mossberg 935, or a Browning Auto.
The 12 ga M2 is a great gun...so is the 20. I have a 20 ga M2 that is my dedicated slug gun and it just may be my favorite gun in all of my collection. However, the 12 will be more versatile if you plan on using it for yotes also. If you want to use a 20 for turkey to see how you like it, then I would probably get an 870 or Mossberg in that gauge. Of course you could get an M2 in each gauge too and have two great guns!
Get the m2 if you really want it. Trust me, no one ever regrets buying the best of something. I know I sure as heck don't regret getting my SBE2. Even though I could have went with a mossberg or 870 express and saved money, I don't regret it a bit.

TSS stands for Tungsten Super Shot, the name given by Kyle Smith who used to have a website that sold loaded shells as well as handloading "kits". He is no longer in business, but most people still refer to the shot as TSS. It is super dense - 18 gm/cc, compared to 11 gm/cc for lead and 12 gm/cc for HS. That density allows you to use pellets 5 sizes smaller than lead and maintain the same penetration. For example, #9 TSS penetrates like lead 4s and is what most people that shoot TSS load for turkeys. And yes, it is a handload only proposition.

It's rare to find an M2 owner who does not like his gun.
I live in what once was a major waterfowl flyway and Benelli shotguns in general have been very popular for many years. The SBE, SBEII, M1 and M2 are all in wide use here. In the last couple of years the Vinci and Super Vinci have also captured a good part of the market.
The 20 gauge M2 has been especially popular with turkey hunters here since many hunters had already switched to the 20 for upland birds and even some waterfowl hunting.
Doris and I have been shooting 20s pretty much year round for the last 13 years, both in competition and for hunting. I also shoot a variety of 12 gauge guns as well and like both gauges.
I don't think you'd go wrong at all with a 20 gauge M2.

If I where you I'd get the 12 ga. If you are going to be chasing yotes as well. Here is a good yote round. It's also cheaper than Dead Coyote.
