Title: Carlson for 835/935
Post by: SCDieselDawg on May 11, 2013, 05:16:05 PM
Anybody tried the unported Carlson tube in the 835/935 guns. I found one at a local shop on clearance. Hopefully it'll be a good one.

The choke your talking about is .675.  I had one and it shot the old Federal Premium lead 6's very well.  I wasn't impressed with it shooting Hevi-13 #6's I believe at the time.

I have an unported .675 that shoots patterns comparable to the truglo ssx out of - mossberg 835. If I were to get another I'd look for a .680 or so for hunting an more forgiveness. The .675 shoots hevi 7's around 290 and 6's around 180

I gotta admit. It surprised me.  I put it in the 935 and shot  3 different shells. 1 3.5" Win #4 (104) 1. 3.5" Fed Grand Slam #5 (104) 1 3.5" Fed FCW #4 (pitiful).  It didnt measure up to the SSX but it outshot the JH with lead. May run Hevi through it in the future but this gun is gunna spend most of its life slinging lead.
