Title: New at Pot Calls
Post by: jacannon on April 23, 2013, 09:05:12 AM
I am building my first pot call and can't decide which sound board to use. The pot is Osage orange and the playing surface is slate. Thanks  JAC

I use glass soundboards in about 90% of my calls, other than copper surfaced calls.  If you intend to make multiple calls over time, I would suggest trying different soundboards with the same wood pot and surface material.  This will give you a feel for how different soundboard materials can change the sound of the call.  You can't go wrong with a glass soundboard.

I second that.  I just assembled a few calls and used glass on all of them.  All sound pretty good.  Also from seeing what others use here it appears that glass is the most popular.

What soundboard do you use in a copper surfaced call?

If I told you, I'd have to kill you...  ;D

I use acrylic.  I tried glass and just didn't like the sound I got with my pot design as well as I did the acrylic.
