Title: Seasons over in Florida
Post by: 870supermagnum on April 22, 2013, 02:57:05 PM
Well, it ended yesterday  :'( .  I was fortunate and was able to take a nice gobbler a couple of weeks ago.  He was coming to my call on a dead run and almost ran past me at 15 yards.  He flipped end over end when he went down, and the shot spooked a second gobbler, that I didn't see, out of a thicket about 30 yards away.  I couldn't get a second shot off before he was out of range.  It was a great season and got to take both of my young grandsons out a couple of times.  Be safe and enjoy.    :fud:      :newmascot:

Yep, it was a great season. Weather was nice overall... coldest March I ever remember here in N Fla. I will take it any day.. because as we know it can get hot real quick.   I got 2 birds, one on opening morning, the other a week ago.  Both real nice with 10 in beards.  Both hunts happened real quick... with the 2nd bird being pure luck.. right place at the right time.

I have been hunting these birds for 25 years now... but this year I really stepped it up.  I hunted more and learned more than ever.
Wife watched me bring in all my turkey gear yesterday to store up for the year. She was wondered what I'm going to do now for the rest of year! Can't wait to start scouting again next year...

Yep, went by way to fast. Lucky enough to get one the first week. Had 4 encounters with a brute, but always henned up. Hopefully he will be around next year.

Probably a good thing, seeing as you can only shoot one bird per day.  ;)
