Title: Virginia Bird Down
Post by: jaybird on April 18, 2013, 08:15:21 PM
Second year in a row that I was able to get an opening day gobbler. He weighed in at 23 pounds, had a 11 inch beard and 1 1/8 inch spurs. Had to reset on him 2 times due to livestock in the way. He had 3 buddies with him that were hammering for 20 minutes. He broke away to come to the call leaving his friends behind. He crested the hill running down the fence line and I had to let the Benelli bark at 30 yards. This is only my second Spring gobbler in over 30 years of chasing them. I think my luck has officially changed for the better!
