Nope.  This is yellow root (golden seal). Used to dig it all the time. I cannot tell you what is in your pic, but it's not it.  Close, though.

I used to dig and sell the dried roots. Similar to what folks do with ginseng. I'm not sure what it is supposed to cure/prevent, but I used to sell the roots for over $30 per pound before companies started cultivating it.  It is also called golden seal and you used to see the capsules in pharmacies.
