Dose anyone use them and do they work? The skeeters and gnats eat me up this morning they were awful
In my opinion they are the best thing invented. I live right on the Mo, AR line and let me tell you we have skeeters. I can fire that thing up and sit on my deck in the evening and will not get bit. It works great for hunting, no bad smell. Get One
Worth every penny. Works great. I bring it along and since I have got it there are no issues with bugs.
It is not complicated to operate and you will be glad you got one.
I wish I needed it today, supposed to get down to 25 degrees, that also takes care of bugs.
Would not hunt in the south without one
As the others have stated, it is a must have! I also mix my own premrethrin spray to keep ticks away.
I buy it like this:
The stuff you buy ready to apply (Sawyer's) is 0.5%. This stuff is 10%. That means you need to dilute it 20 parts water to 1 part permethrin for the same mix. I buy one of the trigger plant sprayers like this:
and mix my own. Spray your clothing down the night before your hunt and let them hang outside. It smells strong when applied, but by the next day you won't smell it. Don't apply it directly to your skin.
After having one, if I needed a new one I would pay double to get another.
I have 4 themacells love them got the holster for it .

winchester is giving them away free when you buy one or 2 boxes of shells , I got the boy some 20 ga shells and got a free one 4 days ago :blob10:. thinking about get more .just to have them around .
Works good on skeeters.
Worth every dime....
I need a second...my wife found out how well they work!!!!!!!!!!!
Thermacells do indeed work, and they are worth their weight in gold!!! :you_rock:
Try one, you'll never go in the woods without one again!! Its amazing!! :icon_thumright:
I agree they work, BUT I do not like to use them during deer season. If I can smell it I know the deer can to.
That is another great thing about turkey hunting is you do not need to worry about your scent.
I would not go turkey hunting down here in Florida without one, You might not come back from the woods.

Thermcells are great against the skeeters, but don't keep the gnats away. Hardcore and Flydown discovered that Avon's Skin So Soft Bug Guard is the ticket to get rid of the gnats. I tried it and now I won't leave home without it. I know some farmers that swear that attaching a dryer sheet to your hat or collar will keep the gnats away but I haven't tried that so I can't personally speak to it. If they ever make 'em camo I may give it a whirl.
Best invention since sliced bread.
TRKYHTR
I'm not a "gadget guy", but the Thermacell is one of the best inventions to come along in a while. They flat out work and are still small enough to not be too cumbersome to carry for somebody like myself who likes to travel light.
Yes they work. Highly recommend them!
I hunt the E. Shore of Maryland ... ie skeeter country. I've been using one since the first year they made them. Worth their weight in gold. Use the Permethrin for ticks and chiggers.
I would forget to put my pants on before I forgot my ThermaCell
Here in Florida the first two things on my check list is my thermacell and my snakeboots.
im gona have to try one do these scare deer in early archery?
Dang I forgot my shells.
No big deal, I got my Thermacell.
Come down to NW Florida and spend about the first 2 hours of daylight in Tates Hell around the Franklin County Area on a warm April morning. We dont get out of the truck till the Thermacell is smoking...
Not sure if I've ever seen anything negative about a thermacell. One of the first things to get thrown in the vest each spring.
Worth every dime.
I might leave my calls at home before I leave my thermacell, here in Bama...
I'm only about halfway kidding!
One of the best investments of my life.....
Thanks for the input fellers I stop at Wally World last night and purchased one and then got up this morning and went hunting it was 40degres and misting raining so I don't get to try it out.

I wouldn't go to the trukey woods without one. I have two and use them all the time....Lay them beside you and skeeters don't even fly by....

I used to do the dryer sheet thing, the morring of a hunt i would put all my camo in the dryer with 5 sheets .and take 3 with me one in my hat ,one in my back pocket , one in my sock . work ok
IVE USED THEM FOR YEARS , SOME TIMES I THINK BACK TOO WHEN I DIDN'T AND THERE'S NO COMPARING .. Do your self a favor and get a few ... :icon_thumright: :icon_thumright:
Dont hunt in south arkansas without it when its warm, works great on skeeters
They work. Down here, you don't hunt without one or skeeter dope.
As far as the deer are concerned..they can't smell it unless they are downwind..and I figure if they smell it; they will be smelling you too. They can see you swatting from any direction.
Love mine. Use it all spring and summer long.....
It's a game changer, hands down. I found my first online, I would say 8-10 years ago. Being the sucker I am for gadgets in the duck world, i bought one. They were white and advertised as only used by the military. First hunt with a buddy in his swamp, he moved back 50 yards to bring a bird in, and the next thing I know, he's back by my side. His comment, "whatever that thing is beside you that I was making fun of earlier, must be the shiz cuz the Mosquitos were brutal back there. And you weren't even moving". We didn't kill the bird, but did have a good laugh. I have 5 now and wish I knew where the white one went.
