Second morning hunt of the season, second bird of the season. Heard 2 birds on the roost that gobbled around 20 times. I saw 2 birds fly down farther down the hill from where I thought I heard the gobblers, so I figured they were hens since the gobblers stopped talking. I was wrong, two gobblers popped over the ridge at 30 yards when I had my gun in my lap. Should have been ready, but I managed the lead bird. The strutter's days are numbered. Dead at 7:02. 9 1/8" beard, 7/8" spur and 15/16" spur. Public land.
