Title: Tuning screw on box call is making a squeaking sound, neel help please
Post by: brkncly on April 05, 2013, 09:32:55 PM
The tuning screw on a new call is squeaking when I use it.  What can I do to make it quit squeaking?  Didn't want to do anything to harm the call by and some gun oil or some sort of lubricant.  Thanks!

I've used a little graphite on the screw before. It works great and won't harm your call. I hope this helps.

Where did you find graphite, I take it's a dry lubricant?

You should be able to find it at a hardware store and possibly Wal Mart.

you could take a rub the screw in a bar of ivory soap. lubricates really nice. that is if you are talking about the screw squeaking when you tighten it up in the box. if you are talking about it squeaking when you use the box, then the hole it is mounted through is too small take a rat tail file and clean it out some.
