I have seen a box call that you work like a slate. You chalk up a tab on the top of the box and use a striker on it . Does anyone know of the call maker in North east Georgia that makes them?
Thanks,
Ben.
Im not sure of the specific call maker you ask about, but I think your asking about a scratch box call. Some call makers make the strikers with slate on them (no chalk needed) some make their strikers without (chalk needed). Slate on striker or not, the scratch box is run by sliding the striker surface over the rail of the box. Many people choose to hold the striker still and then move the actuall box over the striker surface. Several good call makers out there making scratch boxes. "Pappy" Jack Lewis, Mike "Gobblez" Crooks, Chris Walls, Al and Josh Shoemaker, and several others who's name escapes me at this point.
You could always pick up a tom gaskins if you really didnt want a custom call.
Hope this made sense and helped a little.
There is a guy from Maine on you tube that make them. I know that there is someone in Georgia that makes them too. I use scratch boxes a lot .
I HOPE IT WILL COME UP , BEN YA GOT ME INTERESTED
