I'm an out of stater that would like a little information if you all don't mind. I have a couple places to hunt in Tn but was just wondering if they are gobbling well, henned up, or are they just about to get started? I was planning on heading over this weekend but plans have fallen through and I will not be able to make until the week of the 15th. was hoping to catch them turning loose of some hens by then but with this weather who knows....
Any information will be appreciated.

Not sure which part of the state you are coming to but I'm close to Knoxville. It's been kind of weird with the cold snaps. They have been flocked up but are starting to break up. The 15th should be good. I think they will be fired up better by then. They are gobbling good though.

Thanks for the reply! I will be heading to an area near Parker's Crossroad and then on down to Waynesboro in Wayne county. Lots of difference between last spring and this one, huh. Thank goodness!
They are day by day. Some are henned up some aren't. The gobbling has been good on good weather days.
Should be good in west TN. The hens are stealing birds right now it should be better next couple of weeks. Birds seam to be staying ing the woods.
I killed two last weekend and the birds were coming great to a call. One dame in with a group of toms and the other was Tom that had rooster alone. They are staying in the woods, but they are sitting on ready. If we could ever get some warm weather I think they'll cut loose.
Winter has held on a little longer than usual this year. I'm in southern middle Tn., and on a normal year some of the best hunting around here is right around the 15th. Last year winter was kind of warm and the best hunting was the first two weeks, but I think you are going to hit it just about right this year. I killed a bird opening day, but he didn't gobble on the roost and only a few times on the ground. He was with 4 other longbeards and about 10 hens, so they are still pretty grouped up. The weather is suppose to hit a warming trend this coming week, so I think they'll start busting up more.
In my neck of the woods... Saturday and Sunday they seemed to have hens off the roost, but I got on multiple lone birds later in the morning and even in the evening. gobbling was good all weekend. cant wait to get out again

I'm just outside Nashville and I'm still seeing the flocks together. Spent all day yesterday over at the WMA at Percy Priest and never saw or heard a bird. Saw a few dried tracks, but that was it. Ran into a guy that had talked to the GW over at Pooles Knob and he said they were few and far between on that side of the lake. I think I'll have better luck once this weather breaks.
