Title: Turkey Spur Question
Post by: WW on April 02, 2013, 07:19:04 AM
I've always been under the impression that any turkey (eastern) that has a spur of 1 inch or shorter, is a 2 year old bird and anything over an inch is a 3 year old plus... Any truth to this?

That's a general rule of thumb, but not always accurate.  A five year old turkey can have 3/4" spurs.

Depends on individual , and terrain.  In rocky and hilly areas they tend to wear them down.

This^^^   Personally, I wouldn't rely on spur length to be an accurate indicator of age.
