I have a mossy 935 and it seems like every time i take my barrel to clean it and then go to shoot again i have to re-sight in my tru-glo red dot. Is this normal?Or im wondering if the tru glo red dot i have is the culprit.Its the traditional 30mm dual color dot sight. I know i had a hell of a time sighting in today even at close range with skeet loads.It was REALLY windy 20mph+.Today was the only day i could shoot so i had to.I feel like all i did today was waste ammo. Also im wondering if the way i sight in is the reason for it being so far off every time i remove the barrel. I sight in my red dot the old fashioned way, same as a riflescope.Ive seen the way most of you guys sight in red dots on here but i cant do it that way i dont have a lead sled or anything. What do you guys think? Any input would be appreciated. If its my reddot ill send it in for repar or replacement.i hope not though i just bought it last yr.
I don't have a 935, but my True glo is on an 835 and I have 0 issues when I take the gun apart for cleaning.
Tighten that barrel down and don't remove it until the end of the season. When you take the barrel off and on, sometimes you don't tighten it how it was when you sighted it in causing the gun to be off a little. Clean with a boresnake so you don't have to keep taking the barrel off.

That may be true.
I would also check to make sure all the mounting screws are tight.

Excellent advice. Since the sight is on the receiver and the barrel is a separate unit, each time you remove the barrel you can change the point of impact when you reinstall it unless it's at the same torque.
I always mark the magazine cap and the forend or in the case of a pump, the barrel band to make sure I'm putting back on with the same torque on it.

Ok guys thanks for the advice. Ill have to get a boresnake so i dont have to take the barrel off for cleaning.And for future referance ill mark my mag cap and my forend like clark reccomended.Do any of you guys use the otis shotgun cleaning system? Since i have a 12 and a 20 it would be cheaper than buyin 2 boresnakes and id only need 1 kit for both guns.

I took my 24" barrel off my 935 Friday evening to deep clean and shot it after I put it back on and it was still shooting true. I am running just a fiber optic red bead on the end of the barrel though.
I tighten all my turkey guns as tight as I can by hand and then one half turn with padded channel locks. I mark them with a punch and enamel paint and they always go back the same.
I'm not a big mossberg guy, but I do know the 835 has a 10 ga barrel. That said, does the 935 have the over bored barrel as well. If it does, you'll need a 10 ga bore snake.

Yea the 935 has the overbore .775 barrel just like the 835.
Good point on the barrel, never thought of that. I have three Mossy's 2 835's and one 935. I did notice that after I got my 935 sighted in with new shells last week the front lens in the TruGlo redot was at an angle inside the front of the scope. I hunted with it and killed a turkey with it on Saturday. I am not sure if it is worth fixing or ready for the trash, may want to check yours.

That lens is supposed to be at an angle. It's tilted to reflect the LED's light back to the users eyes. That's not a defect.

Thanks Clark! You just me lord knows how much money buying a new red dot and all the shells to sight it in.
