Well the day has come and gone. I didn't fill any tags for the spring. But I did learn a lot from going out there this season. And it being my first season I can't say it was all bad. Next season I will be scouting earlier and harder. Hopefully have a more woods worthy vehicle to get me to those hard to reach areas am be a lot better at running my calls than this year. Today was. Very very slow day. Not a single gobble all dy long and zero signs of any birds. After walking back in talked to a few guys all loading up and they had the same kind of day. All saying this was a very slow season and for the size of the wma I am hunting not a whole lot of birds taken. 25 to be exact and the majority of those were taken the first few opening days. Guess that's the biggest down fall of hunting public land with some many hunters on it. Well here is to next season and now on to Nc April 13th for another go around with ol Tom.

Yeah, FLA public land hunting can be very tough, especially on the ones that are open or let a lot of hunters in on the quota hunts. The buddy system makes it twice as bad due to twice as many hunters. I'm very selective about what hunts I put in for. There are only a handful of WMA's I will put in for. Good luck the rest of your season!!
